FAQs

  • How do I find you?
    Our Post Code is PE32 1SL. If you use google maps your directions will say you’ve arrived as you reach the little road leading to Hay’s Wood Retreat off of Setch Road.   • How do I make a booking?
    To find out our availability and make a booking please send your request to bookings@hayswoodretreat.com or phone 01553 606000
  • When will I need to pay?
    Upon booking, you will be sent a provisional booking letter requesting 10% of the amount to be paid within 7 days to secure your date. You will then have up to a month before your stay to pay the remaining balance.
  • How do I pay?
    Your booking email will have a link to online payment. Alternatively, you can phone reception on 01553 606000 to pay over the phone. We accept credit/debit cards or can create an invoice upon request.
  • What happens if I cancel?
    In the unfortunate event that you have to cancel your booking, we will first try to move your booking to a different date so that you do not lose your deposit or balance. Should we not be able to move your date, but are able to re-let the accommodation you will not be liable for the full balance only the 10% deposit. However, if we cannot re-let the accommodation you will still be liable for the entire balance of the booking. Please note that your deposit is not refundable under any circumstances.
  • When is check in/check out?
    - Check in is any time after 4pm - Check out from the cabin is at 10am – Late checkout is charged at £10 per hour (max 2 hours). You are welcome to stay on site after check out until 2pm.
  • Can I book for group events or weddings?
    Yes. Please contact reception and we can send you all of our event booking details. Please note that we are currently not a registered wedding venue but are able to host blessings and receptions.
  • Can I hire the Reception Building?
    - Yes. The hire of the whole reception building, including all meeting spaces, patio and use of the commercial kitchen is available for £750 per day/night. This can also include an overnight security guard upon request. - Alternatively, you can hire up to three of our meeting rooms by the hour.
  • What is included with my stay?
    Your stay includes the use of your cabin and electricity. All bedding is provided, as well as 2x dishwasher tablets, 1x sponge, 1x tea towel, 2x toilet roll and 2x bin bags, an iron and ironing board. You will also have complimentary access to the reception area, kids’ activity booklet and Gym. Extra Bedding can be provided upon request.
  • What will I need to bring?
    All of our cabins are self-catering. You will need to bring your own bath towels, tea towels, washing up items, extra toilet rolls, extra bin bags, toiletries, food and consumables etc.
  • How are the cabin bedrooms arranged?
    The default setting of your cabin bedrooms will include one super king bedroom with the remaining rooms set up as two single beds per room. If you require a different bed layout, requests can be made no later than 7 days before your booking.
  • Do you have cots, highchairs or shower seats?
    Yes. Should you need any of these items, they are available to hire at an extra cost. Please let us know your requirements upon booking.
  • Can I bring my dog or other pets?
    Hay’s Wood Retreat offers one dog friendly cabin on site, so that your fur family can enjoy a holiday too. Should you wish to bring your four-legged friend, please make this clear upon booking so we can check the availability of our pet friendly cabin. Please note – Dogs will not be permitted entry in to the Leisure Building or other Cabins.
  • Can I smoke or drink alcohol on site?
    No. Hay’s Wood Retreat is strictly a non-smoking and non-alcohol site.
  • Can I bring a BBQ?
    You are welcome to bring a BBQ. however, this will need to be used at one of our two fire pit sites.
  • Do you have a restaurant on site?
    We currently have a juice bar on site where we offer refreshments and jacket potatoes (subject to availability). Reception Building hire comes with the use of our commercial kitchen, where you will be able to hire your own catering team to use the kitchen and serveries.
  • Can I fish in the Lake?
    At this time we are not offering fishing access at either of our lakes. However, this is something we are hoping to offer in the future.
  • I’m a local Contractor, can I book?
    No. Hay’s Wood Retreat does not accept bookings from contractors working in the local area.
