Thank you for your interest in joining our team; we are currently in search of a weekend receptionist to join us.

Receptionist – Weekend Role
Pay: National Minimum Wage (from February 2026)
Hours: 12 hours per week – Saturdays and Sundays, covering opening hours 6am–11pm (early and late shifts, rotating). Additional hours may be available during the season to cover weekday evenings, bank holidays, or holiday cover for other staff.

About the role
As our receptionist, you will often be the only staff member on duty, taking full responsibility for our guests and the entire event centre. Hay’s Wood Retreat is primarily a weekend retreat centre, so the successful candidate must be prepared to assist with all types of functions and provide a warm, welcoming experience to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Using our holiday booking system (full training provided)
• Answering phones and checking guests into their accommodation
• Attending to guests’ needs and enquiries
• Serving in our on-site shop
• Responding to and resetting fire and security alarms
• Assisting with accident and emergency situations, including first aid (full training provided)
• Taking payments (full training provided)
• Supporting the media room when needed (training provided)

Skills & Experience

• Previous receptionist experience is an advantage, but full training will be provided
• Ability to work independently and as part of a friendly, established team
• Excellent communication skills – face-to-face, telephone, and email
• Experience in administration and working with systems such as Word and Excel is desirable
• Driving licence is an advantage but not essential
